Not all negatives about the annuity industry are obvious

  • Annuity agents are the High Priests of information; the annuity companies often won't even talk to you
  • Some sell by relying excessively on  fear of the stock market crashing, not against competing products and strategies.
  • The nicest agents are perfectly capable of making bad recommendations, after 'carefully analyzing your whole financial picture.'
  • The bizarre, and huge risk built into most 'market-index growth annuities' that the industry dismisses---but hates to talk about.
  • Bonuses and side-show 'stock market participation' are inserted into annuities for marketing sizzle, and can lower your after-tax income.
  • Nearly every book on annuities is written by an annuity seller. One notable exception: Annuities for Dummies
  • Steak-dinner seminars usually feature a complicated and high-commission "deferred income" annuity without mentioning it is (probably) a lifetime commitment, practically speaking.
  • Honesty slippage is a constant hazard.
  • Many people who own annuities have never compared them for after-tax income, and don't know what they actually do.
  • Many annuity owners discover unexpected costs, taxation, and "handcuffs on their money" after it's too late.

The Good News

Your Annuity Game Plan addresses and helps you navigate (or avoid) all the above, so you are in control and understand your options.

Maximize after-tax income, minimize risk, avoid the ripoffs.
